Notes

This work by Gay, better known for 'The Beggar's Opera', was published the year after his death and then contained fifty fables in rhyme with titles such as 'The Elephant and the Bookseller' or 'The Monkey who had seen the World', each having its own delightful illustration designed by two of the most eminent artists and designers of their age. This edition has been enlarged with more fables and illustrations.
