Large 4to. 10 x 13.75 inches.  + 5+  + 24 pp. letterpress. Bound in half morocco over printed pictorial boards repeating title page decoration. Extremities with edge wear and darkening. Some foxing inside, mainly confined to blank recto sides of plates; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 25 lithograph plates, including chromolithographs and title. Decorated by ornament on lithographed title and by publisher's device on title page with editor's initials on verso. A beautiful collection of ornaments from history, including Egyptian, Assyrian, Greek, Etruscan, Roman and Pompeian, Byzantine, Irish, Alhambresque, Gothic, Renaissance, Cinque-Cento, Elizabethan, Indian and Persian. Edited by Joseph Cundall (1818-95), pioneer photographer and publisher of children's books. Francis Bedford (1816-94) was an architectural draughtsman and lithographer, also becoming a pioneer photographer. A very scarce title.
