Three volume set of the first edition of the author's classic study of high-style English country houses of the Georgian, extended into the Regency, period. It was several times reprinted and was later republished by the Antique Collectors' Club. Christopher Edward Clive Hussey (1899-1970) of Scotney Castle, Kent, was a leading authority on the history of English domestic architecture, and contributed numerous articles on individual houses to Country Life, of which he was architectural editor, from the 1920s onwards.
