8vo. 8.25 x 5.5 inches. 319 + [1] pp. Bound in original maroon cloth, gilt, decorated with blind stamping and by gilt block on front board; with bevelled edges. All edges gilt. Extremities worn, including corners, edges and head of spine. Slight browning of page edges and some foxing of flyleaves; otherwise a very good copy. Early signature on third free endpaper. Illustrated by sepia portrait frontispiece and facsimile signature. Decorated by head and tailpiece vignettes and by initials. Railway poems by William Aitken (1851-1931), Traffic Inspector of the Greenock Section of the Glasgow and South Western Railway. The volume also includes Lights Along The Line, Gospel Sons and Hymns, etc. Two biographical sketches of the author are included at the front; (see also Inverclyde's Heritage website).
