4to. 11.75 x 9.25 inches. xvii+ [i] + 122 + [1] pp. Bound in original maroon cloth, gilt, in dust wrapper, which is partly sunned with slight loss at top edge and head and tail of spine. minor wear to extremities, but otherwise a very good clean copy. Signed by author on half title. 1939 signature on front pastedown. Illustrated by 5 colour plates, including frontispiece, protected by captioned tissue guards, by 11 black and white plates, paginated in text and by diagram at end. Catalogue and descriptive account of a private collection of Staffordshire figure pottery owned by Sir Harold Vincent Mackintosh, Bt. (1891-1964), from 1957 Viscount Mackintosh of Halifax, owner of the confectionary firm of John Mackintosh and Sons Ltd. of Halifax. The collection includes the work of the Burslem family of potters, renowned for their figures, Ralph Wood I (1715-72) and Ralph Wood II (1748-95).
