Third edition. Tall slim 8vo. 8.5 x 3.75 inches. xix + [2] + 81 [i.e.162] pp. + [3] + 82-83, Addenda + 43 + [1] pp. advertisements. The itinerary and observations are on opposite pages, with duplicate pagination, 1-81. Illustrated with engraved map, Scotland with the Great Roads and Canals from the latest and best Surveys. Contains indices of roads and of places and explanation of marks and contractions at beginning and appendix (notes A-S) and list of inns and corrections at end.
Notes
Seven editions of the Itinerary were published, 1805-30. This is the 2nd state of the third edition. It has an inserted note, To the Reader, after the title page, dated 1817. It explains the addition of two extra pages, 50-51* which contain an enlarged account of the New Great North Road, and two new roads added on p. 52 and in the addenda, pp. 82-83. A handsome copy with a fine map.
