Illustrated by portrait frontispiece and 100 figures numbered in text, including 16 pages of coloured plates and by black and white plates, engravings, and by genealogical table. Biographical account of Charles Cooper Henderson, famous for his paintings of road scenes and carriages. His work is set in the context of other contemporary painters of the road and is well illustrated with colour and black and white reproductions of his output. The book includes a list of Cooper Henderson's work held in public collections, including four in Folkestone Museum.
