Angola, a libertine novel, is the best known work of the playwright, Charles-Jacques-Louis-Auguste Rochette de La Morlière (1719-85). It was first published in Paris in 1746 under the fictitious imprint of Agra. This reprint includes an historical and bibliographical account of the author and his works, by the editor, Octave Uzanne (1851-1931), a famous bibliophile, writer, publisher and journalist, whose research covered eighteenth century authors.
