An autobiographical of the author's zookeeping and animal collecting expeditions overseas. Gerald Durrell (1925-95) was a naturalist, writer, broadcaster and conservationist, who started looking after animals during the family's residence on Corfu, 1935-39 and later founded Jersey Zoo in 1959. Edward Mortelmans (1915-2008) was an artist who illustrated several books by Gerald Durrell.
