A little wear to extremities, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated throughout by black and white photographs, including frontispiece and by maps and facsimiles, etc. Decorated by publisher's device on title page. 1989 gift inscription from author on title page. Well-compiled collection of photographs and other pictorial sources of Hythe and its neighbouring villages of Lympne, Saltwood, Sandling, Seabrook and West Hythe. It includes a useful historical introduction. Charles E. Whitney, who also published Folkestone: A Pictorial History (1986), was a teacher at Dover College, 1973-89, and was active in the establishment of Folkestone and District Local History Society.
