Flyleaves foxed and some scattered foxing elsewhere; otherwise a very good copy. 1946 gift inscription on first free endpaper. Illustrated throughout by wood engravings. Verses celebrating Christian lives in history, from The Twelve Apostles, Saints Ambrose, Benedict and Patrick and the Emperor Charlemagne through St Francis, Aquinas, Erasmus, Luther, Calvin, Ignatius, Cranmer to Bunyan.
