Extracted from the works of bishop jewel. with an introduction, and an appendix.

Item Description

12mo. 4.75 x 7.5 inches. 120 pp. The unknown editor has reprinted this extract to serve as an anti-Roman Catholic tract and this is emphasised by his appendices A-K. John Jewel (1522-71) was an Oxford scholar and reformer who went joined the Protestant exiles in Z?rich during the reign of Queen Mary. He returned soon after the accession of Elizabeth and was consecrated Bishop of Salisbury in 1560. It is not known from which of his writings this text was taken from. His most significant work was translated into English as an Apologie or Answere in Defence of the Churche of Englande in 1564. This Dublin imprint is very scarce and we have been unable to trace another copy of this title.
