Light stain on inner lower edge, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 16 pages of black and white plates and by 13 full page maps in text. Decorated by publisher's device on title page. A history of the British Eighth Army in the Second World War from North Africa throughout the Italian campaign and north into Austria at the war's end. Appendices provide the orders of battle for 1941, 1942 (at El Alamein) and in April 1945 and a list of Victoria Crosses awarded. Richard Doherty (b. 1948) is a military historian from Northern Ireland, whose father was an Eighth Army soldier.
