Notes
The first edition of the combined new history and guide which was a smart and very upmarket production. This copy is complete with the wood and steel engravings, including the fine frontispiece view of Dover, drawn by the young Thomas Sidney Cooper (1803-1902) of Canterbury. Edward Knocker who presented the book in 1833 was Town Clerk for many years and later Mayor of Dover.
