8vo. [vi] + 184 pp. Title page in red and black. Bound in original green cloth, gilt, in pictorial dust wrapper. A little sunning of lower board edges, but otherwise a very good clean copy. Illustrated by 21 pages of black and white and colour plates, including frontispiece, by 62 other plates paginated in text and by numerous text figures. Decorated by title page vignette and by initials. Last revision and enlargement of an extensively illustrated standard work on the history of ornamental design in architecture and the applied arts. Richard Glazier (1851-1918) was Head of the Manchester Municipal School of Art for twenty six years from 1892 and was particularly concerned with the application of art to industry. Several recent reprints of his title, first published in 1899. have appeared.
