8vo. 8 x 5.5 inches. vii + [iv] 257 + [2] pp. Bound in original blue cloth, with black titles, in price clipped pictorial dust wrapper, with edge wear including chips at head and tail of spine which is sunned and stains on rear wrapper. Some wear to extremities and board edges a little sunned. Browning of front flyleaf and fore edge foxing; otherwise a very good copy. Signature on first free endpaper, Illustrated by red and black line drawings in text. Decorated by publisher's device on title page. Romantic novel featuring the life of a nurse and her training, by the Canadian author, Sheila MacKay Russell, born in Alberta. She took a degree in public health nursing in Edmonton and married a doctor in 1947. The illustrations are taken from Nurse Please (1944) by Jean McConnell (1921-2015). First published by Lippincott, Philadelphia in 1950. The book sold well into several editions including paperback and was the basis for a 1956 film, The Feminine Touch. (leavesandpages.com website.
