12mo. 7.25 x 4.5 inches. vii + [i] + 495 + [1] pp. Bound in contemporary black cloth, gilt, boards with blind stamped decoration and inner dentelles; spine in compartments with raised bands, decorated by blind stamping. All edges gilt. A little wear to corners and head and tail of spine, but otherwise a very good copy. Early signature at head of title. The Collects appear in the Book of Common Prayer in the Anglican liturgy and are appointed to read on Sundays and church festival days throughout the Church of England year. This commentary by John James, former curate of Oundle, and later prebendary of Peterborough was first published in 1824 and appeared in numerous editions.
