W. T. Pike’s District Blue Book, Weald Of Kent And Romney Marsh Directory 1884. 1885.
W. T Pike, 62, Queen's Road.
With historical notes.
8vo. 7.25 x 5.25 inches. Unpaginated, but c. pp., including numerous advertisements. Bound in original blue cloth, gilt. Advertisement endpapers. A very good copy. A very rare title as only one edition appears to have been issued. The individual directory entries cover every town and village in the areas of the Weald and Romney Marsh, including very small settlements like Eastbridge and Fairfield. Correspondingly more space is obviously devoted to towns such as Cranbrook and Tenterden. The directory sections listing private citizens and tradesmen are interspersed with numerous advertisements providing valuable information on local businesses. Following the Kent entries is a long East of Sussex Court Directory. W. T. Pike of Hastings also published directories of Hastings and St Leonards and of Dover.
