Provenance
Bound in original maroon cloth, gilt, decorated with blind stamped borders and gilt blocks on front board and spine. Slight wear to extremities but otherwise a very good clean copy. 1864 signature on first free endpaper.

This attractive illustrated guide to Scarborough by Solomon Wilkinson Theakston (1810-75), was first published in 1840 and appeared in twelve editions by the 1880s. A handsome binding by John Leighton.
