Extremities a little worn and some foxing largely confined to edges and preliminaries, including title page; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 16 pages of black and white photographic plates and by map on title page. A further account of island life on Skokholm off the Pembrokeshire coast and what led up to it, by Ronald Lockley (1903-2000). The Welsh ornithologist, naturalist and farmer leased the island in 1927 and carried out pioneering studies of breeding migratory birds, notably the Manx Shearwater. He also continued farming on the mainland and was a prolific author from 1930. Reprint of the first edition published in 1941.
