Illustrated by 8 plates of drawings by Michael Ayrton, including frontispiece. A translation of the Dialogues of Plato, Apologia, Crito and Phaedo, which are the sources for the life of the philosopher, Socrates (c.470-399 BC). He was nominally condemned for corrupting the youth of Athens and for an impious disbelief in the Greek gods. Illustrated by the artist, designer and writer, Michael Ayrton (1921-75).
