FIRST EDITION. 8vo. 5.5 x 7.75 inches. 256 pp. Bound in original black cloth, gilt, in pictorial dust wrapper, which has sunned spine and some edge chips. Minor wear to extremities and slight spotting of edges; otherwise a very good copy. Inscribed by author to Ena and Tom (Driberg), 1956, on first free endpaper. Decorated by publisher's device on verso of title. The first novel, about a relationship with a setting in medical life, by David Russell Cargill, who served with the RAMC in Africa during the war and since 1947 served as a GP and councillor in Maldon, Essex, where was Mayor 1954-55. This copy is inscribed by the author to Ena and Tom Driberg (1905-76), the controversial Labour MP. journalist and former member of the CPGB.
