'Williamson's occupation of the land at Old Hall Farm, Stiffkey, lasted nearly eight years from December 1937 to September 1945 and in The Story of a Norfolk Farm he provides a moving and seemingly effortless account of the early years of the project, from its origins in 1935 to the summer of 1939, with an 'Epigraph' written in June 1940.'
