The first full biography of James Klugman (1912-77), leading British communist and author of the official History of the Communist Party of Great Britain. Educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, where he had links to the Cambridge spy circle, having joined the party in 1933. During the war he was recruited by the Special Operations Executive and served ii Yugoslavia, influencing opinion back home to switch British support from the royalist Chetniks to the communist forces of Tito. Geoff Andrews (b.1961), Senior Lecturer in Politics at the Open University, biographer and specialist in political ideas and the cultural politics of the left.
