Extremities a little worn and foxing largely confined to edges and preliminaries; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 8 pages of black and white photographic plates, including frontispiece, by text vignette drawings and by 2 maps at end. Book Club edition of the author's adventures with the Atlantic or grey sea, with his detailed observations,l by Ronald Lockley (1903-2000). The Welsh ornithologist, naturalist and farmer leased the island in 1927 and carried out pioneering studies of breeding migratory birds, notably the Manx Shearwater. He also continued farming on the mainland and was a prolific author from 1930. Reprint of the first edition published in 1941.
