FIRST EDITION. 8vo. 5.25 x 7.5 inches. [vi] + 367 pp. + 20 pp publisher's catalogue bound at rear Bound in original red cloth, gilt, with pictorial gilt blocks on front board and spine. Extremities slightly worn, particularly at the top and tail of the spine, and spine also faded. A good copy. Illustrated by 4 full page plates including frontispiece and by numerous drawings in text. Decorated by title page and tailpiece vignettes. The second of a series of twelve fairy books with titles named after different colours, written by Andrew Lang (1844-1912), Scottish poet and novelist. The sources of these thirty five stories are from numerous countries. A handsomely bound and illustrated volume.
