Bound in original brown morocco, gilt with blind stamped and gilt decorative panels on boards, enclosing gilt block; spine in compartments with raised bands, decorated gilt. All edges gilt. Extremities lightly worn. A little worming at foot of rear first free endpaper and last two leaves and some foxing, including some plate margins; otherwise a very good copy. Family Register includes details of Bagley family births in 1898, 1900 and 1930.

Authorised version of the Bible with illustrations, maps, notes and commentaries and a separate dictionary of proper names, together with the Psalms in metre. The commentaries used are those of Henry Matthew (1662-1714) and Thomas Scott (1747-1829). This is a reprint of the first edition of 1862. It was edited by John Eadie (1810-76) Scottish minister, theologian and biblical critic. His degrees were from the Universities of Glasgow and St Andrews and he held the post of Professor of Biblical Literature to the United Presbyterian Church. He served as minister of two congregations in Glasgow, published a History of the English Bible in 1876, and was a reviser of the Authorised version.
