Bound in original vellum boards, stamped in gilt with green cloth ties; rebacked in plain vellum with gilt titles and cross bands. Red edges. Illustrated by 16 plates. Decorated by publisher's device on title page and by head and tailpiece vignettes. An illustrated anthology which accompanied the Journal of the Fair, a five day Edinburgh Students event, beginning 10 November 1886. The Preface is signed by Robert Fitzroy Bell (1859-1908), later publisher and founder of Edinburgh students' representative council and James Avon Clyde (1863-1944), later Lord Clyde, Scottish politician and judge.
