Illustrated throughout by black and white photographs, including portrait frontispiece and section headings. Main title includes facsimile signature. The life and work of renowned photographer and war reporter, Lee Miller (1907-77), by her son, based on her negatives, prints and manuscripts, supplemented by negatives from Vogue. It includes chapters on her early work in Surrealist Paris (as proteg? and lover of Man Ray) in fashionable New York, Egypt, in wartime London, her war reporting in Europe, 1944-45, her time in Austria and Eastern Europe, 1945-46 and her married life (to the artist Roland Penrose) in Hampstead and Sussex, 1946-56. First published in the UK in 1985, this is a corrected reprint of the first paperback edition of 1988.
