4to. 11 x 8.75 inches. [8] + 16 7 + [1] pp. Separate half title for The Hythe and Sandgate Tramway, with company device. Bound in original green cloth, gilt, in pictorial price clipped dust wrapper. A very good copy. Illustrated throughout by black and white photographs, maps, drawings and facsimiles. including frontispiece and title page and verso vignettes. The standard history of this three mile long branch line, in use 1874-1951, including the coastal tramway, 1891-1922. Both these enterprises were truncated in terms of their original aims, the tramway running into Folkestone and the branch line to Folkestone Harbour as part of a new route to the continent. Another well researched work from local railway historian, Brian Hart (b.1949), of which few were printed. Long out of print.
