FIRST EDITION. 8vo. 7.5 x 5.25 inches. xi + [I] + 178 + [2] pp. Bound in the original pink cloth, gilt, with gilt ruled upper board having embossed gilt figures of Christopher Robin and Pooh. Top edge gilt. A little wear to extremities and spine sunned with a few stains and chips at head and tail. Board edges slightly sunned and a few small margin tears; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated throughout by the drawings of E. H. Shepard, some whole page, including frontispiece and endpapers. Decorated by the artist's endpiece vignette and by publisher's device on verso of title. First edition of the second Winnie-The-Pooh book with the classic combination of writer, A. A. Milne (1882-1956) and artist, Ernest H. Shepard (1879-1976). They had earlier collaborated in contributions to Punch magazine and in Milne's verse collection, When We were Very Young (1924).
