8vo. 8.75 x 5.75 inches. 188 pp. + [2[ pp. publisher's advertisements. Bound in original red cloth with black spine titles, in pictorial dust wrapper, which has sunned spine. A little foxing of flyleaves and lower margins at beginning and end, but otherwise a very good clean copy. Illustrated by line drawings in margins. A well researched history of headgear, charmingly illustrated in the margins by Vernet line drawings. The author, Michael Harrison, pseud. of Maurice Desmond Rohan (1907-91), was a well known Sherlock Holmes scholar and pastiche writer.
