Bound in the original standard green cloth binding in fine condition. The first edition, issued in November 1872. This copy includes the advertisements dated November 1872 It also contains the typo 'htat' for 'that' on the first line of page 208 and the plates are numbered in Roman Numerals, Freeman speculates that 7,000 copies was probably a long run for the gelatine plates and that they were replaced partway through the print run with the numbers corrected to roman numerals as intended, making this the second of the two issues of the first edition (Freeman 1142)
