First edition. Small 8vo.+ [iv] + + 154 pp. + [6] index + [14] adverts Illustrated with a folding engraved map of the county and 8 curious engraved strip maps. Bound in original blind stamped cloth, spine with the original gilt title and price 2/6. A very nice copy in original binding. Rare. A rare and delightful guide. Only the third copy have we ever catalogued. The strip maps show the route from London to Dover with mileage, towns, villages and local places and items of interest including the names of the residents of all the gentlemen's houses and dwellings of note. The advertisements are also extremely attractive with details of various ships plying their trade across the channel. The work also contains lists of the coaches, hackney carriages, steam packets, shipping charges and customs duties and the conversational text is also full of interesting information.
