FIRST EDITION. 8vo. 5.25 x 7.5 inches. [xii] + 371 pp. Bound in original crimson cloth, gilt, with pictorial gilt blocks on front board and spine. Extremities slightly worn. Spine faded. A very good copy. Illustrated by 8 colour plates including frontispiece, 43 other illustrations both full page plates and drawings in text and by title page vignette. The eighth of a series of twelve fairy books with titles named after different colours, written by Andrew Lang (1844-1912), Scottish poet and novelist. The sources of these thirty five stories are from numerous countries. A handsomely bound and illustrated volume.
