8vo. 7.5 x 5.25 inches. 684 pp. Pagination includes numerous advertisements paginated in text. Bound in original green cloth, gilt, with blind stamped borders enclosing gilt title block on front board. Some wear to extremities but otherwise a very good copy. Gift inscription on first free endpaper with 1935 date stamp of 'Central Specimen Department.' Illustrated by 64 photogravure plates and by numerous text figures. The British Journal Photographic Almanac was first published as part of the British Journal of Photography in 1859 and as a separate publication, 1866-1961, continuing to 1963 as the Annual. It was a major source of information on cameras and other optical items and all types of photographic equipment. It is notable for the quantity and quality of its illustrated advertisements for the latest products, with a few art deco examples.
