Bound in original red cloth, gilt, with contrasting black title label on spine and small gilt block, in pictorial dust wrapper,which has sunned spine and edge wear with chips at tail of spine. A little wear to extremities and some foxing of fore edge; otherwise a very good copy. illustrated by plan as frontispiece The second novel in the two volume Avenue series (following The Dreaming Suburb also of 1958) by novelist and dramatist, Ronald Frederick Delderfield (1912-72). It relates the history of a middle class suburban road and its families during the wartime years, 1940-45.
