Illustrated by 53 pages of black and white plates, including frontispiece, by folding genealogical table at end and by numerous text figures, including marks. Decorated by title page vignette. Well illustrated history of the art pottery firm of Burslem and Tunstall, North Staffordshire Potteries. It is principally concerned with William Adams (1745-1805) and the other two William Adamses of the eighteenth century, who founded the Greengates Pottery in 1779. The firm continued in the family until it was absorbed by Wedgwood in 1966. This study is partly based on an earlier work by William Turner, William Adams, an Old English potter of 1905.
