A little spotting of flyleaves and edges, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 265 text figures,including black and white photographs, drawings and diagrams. An introduction to the technology of the ancient world, including prehistory, classical civilisations and the barbarians. It covers tool making, agricultural techniques, milling, architecture, chariots and ships, weapons, textiles and pottery. Henry Hodges (1920-97), archaeologist, taught at the Universities of Queen's, Belfast, London and Queen's, Kingston, Ontario, specialising in the technology and artefacts of the ancient period.
