Marbled endpapers. All edges marbled, sunned at top. A little wear to extremities and browning of flyleaves, but otherwise a very good copy. Signature on verso of first free endpaper. Revised edition of a work,first published 1804, this is a collection of the creeds and catechisms of the sixteenth century churches of mainland Europe. These are the Tridentine Catholic Church and the Protestant churches of Switzerland, the German States (1530), Saxony (1531) and the Low Countries (1561-81). Edited by John Randolph (1749-1813), scholar, academic and cleric, educated at Westminster and Christ Church, Oxford, who became Regius Professor of Greek, then Divinity at Oxford, and successively Bishop of Oxford, Bangor and London (1809-13). A handsomely bound copy.
