Publisher's original blue cloth-covered boards with coloured label laid on. A little dusty with light wear to extremities. Internally some slight signs of wear and browning to some folds otherwise a very good, attractive example.

Linen-backed, lithographed folding coloured chart approximately 27 x 27 inches, folding to 5.5 x 9 inches between boards. Folding coloured map, 6 x 20 inches, of Thames from London Bridge to Gravesend, showing soundings and adjacent railways, attached to front board, main chart to rear board. Front board and exposed folds protected by patterned paper with attractive bookplate of R.H. Johnstone tipped to exterior of smaller map.
The main chart shows the mouth of the Thames with land either side between Ramsgate in the south and Orfordness in the north. Upper left corner shows representations of the main chart with Tidal Stream information from 5 hours before to 6 hours after H.W. at Dover with a table of Tidal Information. A key is also printed on the land area of the chart.
