Folio. 12 x 8.75 inches. Unpaginated. [92 leaves + 4 blank]. Bound in original red cloth, gilt, in pictorial dust wrapper. A little wear to extremities, but otherwise a very good copy. Number stamped on lower edge of first free endpaper. Illustrated by portrait frontispiece, photograph of author, map and by 84 colour plates. Colour plates, mainly of the island landscape, by Robin Castell (b.1941), whose career is summarised in the note on the author.
