Oblong 8vo. 7.5 x 4.75 inches. 8 + 16 leaves of plates. Bound in original red morocco, gilt. Extremities worn with small chip in spine, but otherwise a very good copy. Presentation inscription from Mayor on p.2. Illustrated by 16 black and white photographic plates. A souvenir booklet to mark the granting of municipal borough status to Gillingham in 1903. It describes and illustrates, the movement for incorporation, the granting of the Charter, the official deputation to receive it at the Privy Council Office and return it to Gillingham, where it was carried in procession by a decorated tramcar and carriages and read at various points in the borough.
