First published in 1930. Using his own advanced navigation procedures, Francis Chichester (1901-72) flew solo from Croydon to Mascot Aerodrome, Sydney in his Gipsy Moth aircraft, 1929-30. Chichester later turned his navigation expertise to sailing, including long distance ocean voyages.
