8vo. 6 x 8.5 inches. 790 + [1] pp. Bound in original grey cloth, gilt, in dust wrapper, which has chips and tears at head and tail of spine. A little wear to extremities and front hinge is cracked, but sound; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 2 portrait frontispieces with facsimile signatures. The one volume of the Selected Works of Marx and Engels in English was first prepared, edited and published by Progress Publishers in Moscow and simultaneously published in London by Lawrence and Wishart. Among the works included are the Manifesto of the Communist Party, The Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte, The Civil War in France, Socialism: Utopian and Scientific, The Origin of the Family, Private Property and the State and Ludwig Feuerbach and the End of Classical German Philosophy. Three essays by V. I. Lenin precede the selected works, including short essays on Marx and Lenin.
