Illustrated by portrait bust frontispiece with facsimile inscription and signature (Vol. I). and by folding map ( Vol. II). A full edition of Rural Rides, edited by Pitt Cobbett, Vicar of Crofton, Hants, 1874-1901 (possibly a distant relative but not a direct descendent). The best known title of William Cobbett of Farnham (1763-1835), farmer, journalist and political radical, prolific writer and publisher of the newspaper, the Political Register (1802-35). Rural Rides was serialised in the Register, 1822-26 and first appeared in book form, 1830).
