8vo. 5.75 x 8.75 inches. 285 + [1] pp. Bound in original blue cloth with red titles, in dust wrapper, which has edge wear and chips, including small area of loss at tail of spine and adjoining area. A little wear to extremities and some sunning of edges; otherwise a very good copy. Loosely Inserted: Miniature Medals, folding chart in colour, The Order of St. John, Memorandum of 1937, [4] pp. and 4 press cuttings, 1963-64 with one undated. Illustrated by 16 colour plates of British and Foreign Ribbons and by line drawings in text and margins. Revised and enlarged edition of standard work on medals and medal ribbons, first published 1916. Captain Henry Taprell Dorling (1883-1963), who used the pen name, 'Taffrail,' served in the navy in both World Wars and wrote numerous works of fiction and non-fiction on nautical matters.
