FIRST EDITION. 8vo. 5.75 x 8.75 inches. [xii] + 78 + 1] pp. Bound in original brown cloth, gilt with ornamental title block on front board and decorated spine. patterned endpapers. A little wear to extremities and slight sunning of spine; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by colour frontispiece and by numerous black and white text figures, including whole page. Decorated by title page and head and tailpiece vignettes,. A new theory of decorative ornament based on mathematical patterns derived from nature and the geometry of four dimensions. Claude Fayette Bragdon (1866-1946) was a US architect and later stage designer. Bragdon's architectural theories, later overwhelmed by the prevailing modernism, have found more favour recently and this title has been reprinted several times since 1972.
