FIRST EDITION. 4to., in eights. 9.75 x 7.5 inches. [vi] + 193 pp. Bound in original red cloth, gilt. Spine a little sunned and foxing throughout, largely confined to flyleaves, preliminaries, edges and margins; otherwise a very good copy with plates clean. Illustrated by 12 colour plates, including title page and by text figures. The colour plates illustrate Auricula, Polyanthus, Tulip, dahlia, Camellia, three Rose varieties and Fuchsia. The book by Sacheverell Sitwell (1897-1988) was illustrated by John Farleigh (1900-65), artist and wood engraver.
