A roll of officers of the 19th Foot, the Green Howards and its predecessors, arranged chronologically from 1688-1920, including all First World War officers. Until 2006 it had been one of the five remaining line infantry regiments of the British army that had not been amalgamated. In that year it merged with two other regiments from the county to become the Yorkshire Regiment. Michael Lloyd Ferrar (1876-1971) was a soldier, colonial administrator, and lepidopterist, who was educated at Rugby and Sandhurst.
